Job description
It all began in 2006 with Chris Stewart, who believed that camp was an important part of every child’s development and could be more than people expected. In 2016 the unique and legendary camp programs Chris created were continued by his eldest son Christopher (we know… their names are confusing).
Since then Wilderwood Camps has continued to be a family-owned and operated business by Christopher and his family. Wilderwood holds true to its establishing belief that Summer Camp is a crucially important part of every child’s development.
In 2018 the battle cry “for the Children” was uttered by one of our camp counselors. Since then it has been adopted as a team slogan that encapsulates Wilderwood’s founding principles and the reason we believe so much in Summer Camp because it’s all “for the children!”
Although we are not a church camp or an evangelistic camp, Wilderwood Camps is rooted in the Christian faith and its values. Our programming reflects these beliefs, as does our desire to provide campers with mentors who model love through their actions. Our counselors are the role models your child will be looking up to. We invest a great deal of time and resources in finding the right counselors. We hire young people who have the ingredients of good character — patience, kindness, gentleness, love, self-control, empathy, and fun-loving.
We know how important it is to find the right partner when taking an adventure. When you choose Wilderwood Camps, you’re choosing more than a camp, you’re choosing great role models for your child!
The Call to Duty
Brave souls, heed the summoning, for a noble quest awaits those with hearts aflame and a spirit untamed! Behold, the sacred duties that lie ahead, akin to forging alliances in the crucible of battle:
Craft and unveil programs of enchantment, let joy and mirth weave through the fabric of our camp, ensuring every camper partakes in an adventure of boundless delight.
Command the very essence of the day, orchestrating the ballet of time, personnel, and logistics in a harmonious symphony, where every note resonates with the promise of a wondrous experience.
Lead our stalwart band, imbue them with the wisdom of the ancients, so they may stand resolute, armed with the knowledge to bestow upon the campers an experience steeped in excellence.
Raise the banners of safety and inclusivity high, let the sacred grounds echo with the laughter and camaraderie of all who enter, shielding them from the shadows that may seek to encroach.
Forge bonds with the guardians of our young charges, let diplomacy be our sword, addressing concerns and conflicts as they arise, ensuring harmony prevails.
The Chronicles of Experience
Possess the sacred scrolls of a Bachelor's degree in Education or kin, a testament to your dedication to the pursuit of knowledge.
Wield the scepter of administrative prowess or the staff of higher education teaching, for these are the artifacts coveted in our realm.
Boast of past exploits in the realms of camps and recreation, where your footsteps have left an indelible mark upon the tapestry of youthful memories.
Bear the armor of organizational finesse, communication spells woven into your very being, the ability to weather the tempest and adapt when the winds of change blow fierce.
Let your passion be a beacon, a flame that burns brightly, illuminating the path to creating not mere moments, but timeless memories etched in the hearts of the young.
Should you embark on this odyssey, riches in the form of competitive compensation and bountiful benefits shall be bestowed upon thee. This, my comrades, is a full-time commitment, yet fear not, for within its folds lie opportunities for ascension.
If your soul resonates with the melody of this clarion call, if you harbor a fervor for kindling the flame of wonder in the hearts of children, and if you possess the requisite experience, we beseech you to step forth. Present unto us your resume, and in the scrolls of your cover letter, reveal the chronicles of your relevant exploits. May your journey be swift and your spirit unwavering!
